Autobiography Book Jacket
Book Design

This autobiography book jacket was designed as a self-portrait to interpret the life of Elizabeth Long. The theme of family, growing up and a generational focus was crafted into “Growing Up in The Village; Learning from Generations in Cardington.” The design incorporates personal history, an aesthetic color palette and an inviting family emphasis through typography and photographic imagery. The transparent map, bold thumb nails and a family picture are photographic elements implemented to lean on visual storytelling rooted in the authentic real-world imagery. The tan base color palette was derived from a sense of simplicity and a light and high-spirited subject matter. A laid back and playful typeface called Vintages was used in contrast with Avenir Next to portray the relaxed and friendly community of the village of Cardington.
